“How Are You Truly?”

“How are you truly?”

How often do we ask this question and really mean it? In our fast-paced lives, we often ask how someone is doing out of politeness or habit, without really taking the time to listen to their response. But what if we took a moment to genuinely ask and listen to how someone is truly feeling?

Asking someone how they are truly can open the door to honest conversation and create a space for individuals to share their thoughts and feelings. It can also promote mental health awareness and encourage individuals to seek help when needed. We all have mental health, just as we have physical health. And just like our physical health, our mental health can fluctuate and require attention and care. By asking how someone is truly feeling, we are acknowledging the importance of mental health and promoting a culture of openness and support. Mental health is an integral part of our overall well-being yet discussing it openly and seeking treatment for mental health issues is still stigmatized in many societies. This stigma can create barriers to accessing treatment and support, leaving individuals struggling with mental health issues feeling isolated and unsupported.

To get beyond these obstacles and support those in need, it is crucial to eradicate the stigma associated with mental health. It's important to start having open conversations about mental health and dispelling the myths and misconceptions that fuel the stigma.

One of the most significant barriers to seeking mental health treatment is the belief that mental health issues are a sign of weakness. This belief couldn't be further from the truth. Mental health issues can affect anyone regardless of age, gender, or social status. In fact, seeking help for mental health issues requires immense strength and courage. Another barrier to mental health treatment is the fear of being judged or ostracized by others. This fear is often fueled by the negative stereotypes and misconceptions surrounding mental health. It is essential to remember that seeking treatment for mental health issues is a sign of self-care, and anyone who judges or shames individuals for seeking help is misguided.

In a world where mental health stigma still exists, asking how someone is truly can be a powerful way to break down the barriers that prevent individuals from seeking help. It shows that we care and are willing to listen, without judgment or assumptions. So, next time you ask someone how they are, try asking, "How are you truly?" and be prepared to listen with an open mind and heart. You may be surprised by the impact it can have on someone's mental health and wellbeing.

Wearing a green ribbon for the rest of the month is a meaningful way to demonstrate your commitment to promoting mental health awareness and support. The green ribbon is a symbol of renewal and hope, representing the possibility of growth and change even in the face of mental health challenges. By wearing the ribbon, you are showing solidarity with those who may be struggling and creating an opportunity for open and compassionate conversations about mental health. This simple gesture can make a big impact, helping to break down the stigma surrounding mental illness and encouraging individuals to seek the care and support they need.

We are going to continue the conversation around mental health as we are excited to announce that we will be hosting an online mental health workshop in Arabic at the end of May, in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month. Our workshop will focus on encouraging mental wellbeing and providing practical tools. We hope to raise awareness around mental health and reduce the stigma associated with seeking support. We believe that mental health is just as important as physical health, and by prioritizing our mental wellbeing, we can lead happier and more fulfilling lives.

We encourage you to join us in this important effort to prioritize mental health and wellness. By wearing a green ribbon proudly, we can continue the conversation around mental health and create a more supportive and understanding community.  Together, let's strive towards reducing the stigma associated with mental health and embracing a more positive and inclusive approach to wellbeing.
